About Us
Prince George’s County Local Management Board has a three-year results based Community Partnership Agreement (CPA) with the State of Maryland. The CPA focuses on four key Result areas:
- Children Safe in their Families and Communities
- Children Successful in School
- Children Entering School Ready Learn
- Babies Born Healthy.
The LMB will continue to assess community needs, remain data driven, child centered and family focused while staying apprised of trends, demographics and phenomena in Prince George’s County to target the most relevant result areas and indicators and be responsive to the most vulnerable and at-risk populations and communities. The LMB will continue to utilize evidence based programs, best practice models and strategies and methods that have proven to be effective, data driven and successful to achieve the desired results for the Prince George’s County residents.
Core Responsibilities
LMBs are the core entity in each jurisdiction to I stimulate action by State and local government, public and private e providers, business and industry, and community residents to build an effective system of services, supports, and opportunities that improve outcomes for children, youth and families. The LMB plans, coordinates, implements, and manages a local interagency service delivery system for children, youth and families. The Local Management Board is responsible for participating in the development and the implementation of a strategic plan and the development and expansion of the local community-based service delivery system for children and their families.
Planning for Results – The LMB is responsible e for designing and implementing strategies needed to achieve desired results:
- Child Weil-Being Results
- Community Needs Assessment
- Strategic Plan
Contracting for Results – The LMB is responsible for contracting with the State and various vendors to achieve desired results. Program Requirements – The LMB shall ensure that programs and services funded through Children’s Cabinet Interagency Fund operate according to specified guidelines to achieve desired results.
Key Responsibilities of the LMB
- The Local Management Board identifies, prioritizes and targets resources for Prince George’s County communities.
- The major focus is to increase local authority to plan, implement, and monitor children and family services.
- The LMB serves as the coordinator of collaboration for child and family services.
- The LMB brings together local child-serving agencies, local child providers, clients of services, families, and other community representatives to empower local stakeholders in addressing the needs of and setting priorities for Prince George’s communities.
- The LMB conducts community needs assessments, negotiates with the State, and makes a long-term commitment to produce improved outcomes in the State’s eight result areas for child and family well-being.
- The LMB facilitates changes in their communities that result in a better quality of life for children and families.
- The LMB leads the way in returning and diverting children from out-of-state placements.
- The LMB creates interagency services for children at-risk of out-of-home placements.
- The LMB increases linkages between public and private agencies serving children and families.
- The LMB advocates for resources and services on behalf of children, youth and families.
- The LMB strategizes to fill gaps in services and bring need resources to Prince George’s communities.
- The LMB provides direct services to children, youth and their families through contractual agreements with community-based service providers.
